MORE DETAILS - 2007 HERO PARTY - MORE DETAILS
42 BELOW VODKA and GEORGE FM are proud to present Auckland's 2007 HERO PARTY. Now in its 17th year, the infamous HERO Party is NZ's ultimate polysexual dance extravaganza ... gay, straight, bi, undecided ... who cares ... it's an excuse for a party and what a fantastic party it is!

This annual pride event is always one of the most festive and colourful nights of the year - featuring multiple dance spaces, international DJs, stunning laser lighting and big-room shows. The 2007 event is being held on Saturday, February 24th.
"The 2006 party was a sell-out so we're moving HERO to an exciting new venue in 2007", says party organiser Mike Modrich.

The "exciting new venue" is of course, the "Grand Old Lady" of Auckland's Queen Street - the Saint James. This beautiful historic theatre provides an ideal setting for the 2007 party, with a main dance floor more than twice the size of last year's, a huge stage for HERO's larger-than-life shows, plus multiple smaller dance areas and a very sizeable outdoor space.

"HERO Parties are renowned for their flamboyant and spectacular shows", says Mike, "and the 2007 event will be no different... We’re not giving anything away at this stage, but needless to say the shows will be sensational!"

And it won’t just be the shows that are sensational! Party-goers can expect some of NZ’s best production at HERO 2007. There will be intelligent lighting, stunning Oracle lasers and Psyklonic mirrored objects... as well as big-screen visuals and other surprises.

"One of the first things that hits people when they walk onto the main dance floor at HERO is the awesome laser lighting!" says Mike. "A sea of
shimmering, swirling colours definitely enhances what is already an electric atmosphere!"

For the third year in a row HERO has contracted M2 Events Ltd to organise the HERO Party and they are expecting continued growth for this popular event.

"When we organised the party for the first time in 2005, the previous year’s event had attracted around 800 attendees. Over the past couple of years those numbers have almost doubled. The 2006 party sold out on the night with around 1500 people... and we’re hoping to attract even more people in 2007!"

For the second year in a row, 42 Below Vodka will be the premiere sponsor for the HERO Party and they’re looking to build on 2006’s infamous ‘So Gay!’ viral email campaign and outrageous George FM radio ads!

"We’re really excited about having 42 Below involved again this year", says Mike. "They did an amazing job at raising HERO’s profile in 2006, both here in NZ and overseas, and we’re expecting more hilarious, over-the-top hi-jinx for 2007!"

The organisers of the HERO Party are also trying to work more closely with the organisers of Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to ensure the continued success of both events. This cooperation certainly appears to be working well,
as increasingly now, HERO is being recognised as an essential part of any "Mardi Gras Down-Under" tour... attracting more and more overseas visitors to Auckland every year.

"We were really pleased with the 2006 party", says Mike. "Along with the usual Australian visitors, there were visitors from the States and Canada, as well as Germany and the UK. We’re already getting overseas inquiries about the 2007 party, so hopefully this trend of international visitors will continue."

So if you'd like to enjoy the HERO Party experience for yourself, make sure you're at the St James Complex (312 Queen Street, Auckland) on Saturday, February 24th, 2007.
